Slimmers in Keighley have made a hefty six-stone chocolate sacrifice for Manorlands hospice.

Women who attend Weight Watchers classes in Keighley and Oxenhope have given more than 30 boxes of chocolate Christmas presents to Manorlands hospice.

The chocolates, biscuits and sweets will be given to patients at the Oxenhope care centre and raffled off to visitors as a fundraising activity.

Josephine Moore, who attends the Keighley classes and has donated four chocolate boxes, said: "It doesn't matter really because you can replace it with fruit and vegetables and you think what good it is doing Manorlands.

"My partner had to give up his chocolate for the cause as well!"

Denise Western, who leads the Oxenhope and Keighley classes, said it had been a big sacrifice for the women. She said: "You are allowed to eat chocolate on the Weight Watchers diet but it must be all in moderation."

Andrew Wood, a fundraiser for Manorlands, said that the team was grateful for the efforts of both Weight Watchers groups.

He said: "Denise and the Keighley Weight Watchers are great supporters of Manorlands and have come up with this idea which benefits everyone."

The Weight Watchers classes in Keighley are at the Airedale Church, on Thursdays, from 10am, and the Oxenhope classes run at West Drive Chapel, on Wednesdays, from 6.30pm.
