TRIBUTE has been paid to students across the district for their performance in GCSEs and Level 2 vocational qualifications.

South Craven School at Cross Hills praised its year 11 pupils for a "brilliant" set of results.

Following the publication of results today, the school said it was delighted with pupils' performance – particularly given the disruption faced during the past two years.

Headteacher Martyn Hill said: "We are so proud of the achievements of year 11 and I want to congratulate each and every one of the students for their hard work, resilience and amazing attitude to their learning.

"The cohort has made tremendous progress during its five years with us and I would like to congratulate and thank parents who have provided us with great support, especially in the past two years. I would also like to thank the staff at South Craven who have worked so hard every day with the students to make these results possible."

Head of year 11, Vicky Johnson, said: "I would like to wish year 11 all the best, as these recent years have been challenging for the students both academically and emotionally. It is a credit to them all how well they have done, and I am very proud of their achievements. I know they will continue to go from strength to strength and it has been a pleasure to be part of their journey."

The school said many year 11 students would be returning next month to start sixth form courses, and it would be supporting others as they progressed to colleges and apprenticeships.

Students across the Bradford district have also won praise.

Councillor Imran Khan – Bradford Council’s executive member for education, employment and skills – said: "Their achievements are a tribute not only to their own hard work through a pandemic but also to the staff in our schools and colleges and the support of their parents and carers.

"I wish them every success as they take on new challenges. Whether they go on to study A-levels, vocational qualifications, an apprenticeship or into the workplace, I encourage them to continue to work hard and aim high.
