Manorlands hospice is urging women to do something a little different on a Saturday night to help raise vital funds.

The charity will host its first women's-only sponsored walk - backed by the Bradford & Bingley bank - on May 17.

The event will begin at the Bradford & Bingley offices, in Crossflatts, and should follow a ten-mile circular route to Steeton Millennium Business Park and back.

Participants will take part in a group warm-up prior to the actual walk and will each receive a poncho, medal and goody bag at the finishing line. Hot drinks and refreshments will be available during the walk.

Manorlands area fundraising manager, Jodie Shepherd, said: "You can walk in memory of a friend or relative, to keep fit, or simply as a way to do something different on a Saturday night."

Paul Mitchell, community affairs manager at Bradford & Bingley, said: "Manorlands has proved to be a very popular cause with staff at our Bingley and Crossflatts offices, having once again been chosen as their charity of the year for 2008.

"This midnight walk is just one of a number of the hospice events we will be supporting throughout the year, not to mention the fundraising our staff carry out."

Entering the event costs £12. For more information and entry forms, contact the fundraising office on 01535 640430 or e-mail jodie.shepherd@suerydercare.org.

Manorlands would also like to hear from anyone willing to serve as a marshall on the night.
