When Leap Year lovers, Judith Duffy and Gary Parker, plighted their troth they were overheard by millions of people.

Judith, the 46 year-old workshop service adviser and mother of two adult daughters, proposed to her 38 year-old boyfriend Gary on the Jeremy Vine programme on BBC Radio 11.

She took advantage of the Leap Year tradition in which women can do the honours and ask for their sweetheart's hand in marriage.

Gary, a mechanic, of Yeadon, was tricked into speaking to the presenter and then heard Judith - only yards away at Colin Appleyard motorcycle dealers in Worth Way, Keighley - say the words.

"I told him I wanted it to be a special moment we could remember for the rest of our lives. That special moment was here.

"I told him how much I loved him and he made my life complete and will you marry me," said Judith of Silsden "It was a complete surprise," said Gary. "I said course I will.' "I had been thinking of doing something special myself but hadn't got round to making the plans."
