A teenager who threatened to break the neck of a police community support officer blamed his behaviour on the amount of alcohol he had drunk.
Tom Hadfield-Abosch, 18, of Ribble Court, Silsden, admitted using threatening behaviour on January 5, in Kirkgate, Silsden, when he appeared at Bingley Court on Tuesday.
Magistrates were told he was approached by the PCSO, who saw him drinking from a bottle of beer and believed he was under age. When the officer attempted to usher him towards a doorway to await police, the accused made the threats.
The court sentenced him to a 12-month conditional discharge after he said that alcohol was a "big influence" on his behaviour.
