A service engineer collided with two parked cars when he turned into a cul-de-sac, followed by a police patrol car.
Officers had been behind his VW from Goose Cote Lane, Oakworth, after Paul Lynch pulled out in front of them - forcing them to break to avoid a crash - Bingley Magistrates were told on Tuesday. Lynch, of Hillside Avenue, Oakworth, was then seen driving his company car erratically and swerving across the road before arriving at his home in the cul-de-sac.
Lynch, 42, was taken to Keighley Police Station and found to have drunk more than twice the legal limit.
He was fined £750, banned from driving for 20 months and ordered to pay £60 towards court costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
Paul Fitzpatrick, for Lynch, said he travelled in excess of 30,000 miles a year in an area stretching from Sheffield to northern Scotland.
"He is hoping to rescue the situation by funding his own travel by using public transport which will not be easy considering the area he covers," said Mr Fitzpatrick.
