Keighley adults with learning difficulties are getting sporty thanks to a charity donation.

The JOIN Project has been given £600 from the Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation.

Members have bought exercise equipment for their Fitness Fun project, which involves weekly exercise sessions.

Activities include circuit training, aerobics and a wide variety of adapted sports and games. JOIN provides various educational and recreational activities for adults with mild to moderate learning difficulties.

Activities include cookery, walking, horse riding, arts and crafts, literacy, self-advocacy and a social drop-in.

The aim of all activities is to enable adults with learning difficulties to develop life skills and achieve greater independence.

Marie Mullins, manager of the Yorkshire Building Society's Keighley branch, said: "JOIN helps people with learning difficulties to build their confidence and self-esteem as well as develop useful life skills.

"The new Fitness Fun project should enable JOIN members to get active and increase their levels of fitness."
