Park Lane College Keighley has been branded inadequate in most areas by government inspectors.

OFSTED inspectors blasted its leadership and management, achievement and standards, and quality and effectiveness of provision.

The "inadequate" rating was also given to half the college's teaching areas, with the rest classed as satisfactory.

The capacity of the college to improve was classed only as "satisfactory", despite the arrival of a new management team last autumn.

Major changes were made after the college, formerly Keighley College, merged with Park Lane College Leeds.

This week's OFSTED report comes two years after the inspectors branded Keighley College as inadequate in most areas..

The college today said it was disappointed with the report, but was not surprised by the problem areas noted by OFSTED.

A spokesman said: "The key issues are already part of a long-term strategy devised by Park Lane last year to move Keighley into a better position.

"We expect to undertake a great deal of hard work over the next few years to lift Park Lane College Keighley to where it deserves to be.
