There'll be a direct rail link from Keighley to Kendal this weekend as model railway buffs display their layouts.

Creations from all over the country will be assembled at Keighley Model Railway Club's annual exhibition.

The Mill Street layout, by the club's 7mm group, will be connected to the Kendal club's Maidenhaiste layout.

Model gauges from N to Gauge 2 Narrow Gauge will be displayed at Victoria Hall, on Saturday and Sunday.

The Keighley club's junior section will show its new layout, built entirely by members with advice from seniors.

A competition for the best building made by a junior member will be judged by Network Rail's David Lowe and Keighley and Worth Valley Railway's Brian McDougall.

The first prize, given by Network Rail, is a cab ride on the Aire Valley railway line.

The exhibition runs from 10am to 5pm. Admission is £3.50 adults, £2.50 concessions, £10 family (two plus two).
