An unemployed man died from abuse of drugs, an inquest heard.

Bradford Coroner Roger Whittaker found that Steven Dodds, 42, of Barley Street, Keighley, a long-term heroin user, had died after injecting the drug on June 29, 2007.

The deceased had been admitted to Airedale Hospital, at Steeton, suffering from hallucinations and a cardiac arrest.

He had been revived but suffered suspected renal failure.

His condition deteriorated and he was pronounced dead later that day.

Mr Whittaker stated that later tests indicated the deceased had suffered septicaemia and venous thrombosis but that both these conditions had been brought on by his long-term drug use.

He recorded a verdict of death by dependent abuse of drugs.
