Yorkshire in Bloom judges will arrive in Keighley early next month for their spring assessment.
Lee Senior, the new chairman of Keighley in Bloom, said the results from the judges' April 2 visit would give the town a third of its marks for the annual contest.
The remaining marks will come from the judging team's second visit in the summer. Mr Senior said the Keighley in Bloom committee was determined to ensure the town regained its silver gilt status, which it last attained in 2006.
"We want to be looking our best for when the judges come, so we need the town to be as litter free as possible," he said.
He added success would ultimately depend on a joint effort from groups such as Bradford Council Street Scene, local businesses and gardening enthusiasts.
He said the Keighley in Bloom committee was always keen for new volunteers and anyone interested in helping out should contact 07766402539.
