A councillor has sought to allay fears that an eastern bypass - which would threaten the town's historic Park Wood - has been proposed.
Watch and transport committee chairman Cllr Graham Mitchell said he understood people had been genuinely worried about the wood's fate.
He said he had received a letter from John Blackburn, Bradford's assistant director for transportation and highways, stating that there were currently no firm proposals or schemes for a bypass through Park Wood.
Cllr Mitchell added the district council did not even have the necessary funding for such a project.
Cllr Judith Brooksbank, who represents Long Lee and Parkwood Ward, said she was not convinced that the wood's long-term future was secure.
She said even if there were no immediate, concrete proposals for a bypass through the wood, there was still "a plan for a plan".
