Firefighters rescued a distressed deer after it got stuck in railings today in Cullingworth.

A dog walker raised the alarm after spotting the animal wedged at the side of Ellar Carr Road in Cullingworth just after 7am.

Bingley watch manager David Sharp said: "It was well and truly lodged. It had managed to get half its body through, then got stuck with its hips."

The crew used cutters and spreaders to prise the cast iron railings apart.

"The way it ran off we're expecting it to make a full recovery," said Mr Sharp. "I think it just lost a bit of fur!"
