Thieves broke into a storeroom at a Cross Hills restaurant and stole food items worth about £500.

The raiders struck at Tams, in Main Street, overnight on Wednesday last week and their haul included one box of Chinese rice wine, three boxes of bamboo shoots and 12 drums of cooking oil.

They also took four boxes of bleach and three boxes of washing up liquid.

"A large vehicle would have had to have been used and we would like to hear from anyone who saw a van being loaded up or who has been offered the items," said a police spokes-man.
