A HISTORIC Keighley brewery is relaunching a popular ale.
Timothy Taylor is reintroducing Havercake in cask.
The brew was originally produced in honour of soldiers from the Duke of Wellington's Regiment, who were affectionately nicknamed the Havercake Lads after the oatmeal bread cake that formed the staple food of the Pennine towns and villages where most of the men lived.
The ale is created using a mixture of amber malt and two types of oat malt.
Ten pence from every pint of the beer sold will go to ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, the British army's official charity which supports current and former service personnel and their families.
Havercake is being relaunched at the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway beer and music festival, which starts on Thursday (October 13), and will then be available in pubs.
Scott Cameron, Timothy Taylor's senior brand manager, says: "It’s fantastic to be able to welcome back Havercake, a real crowd pleaser.
"Timothy Taylor’s has always had very close ties with our armed forces, and to be able to support ABF The Soldiers’ Charity this year through sales of Havercake brings us a lot of pride."
