KEIGHLEY-district runners are being urged to pull on their trainers in support of a children's hospice.

Martin House is inviting people who have missed out on a ballot place in next year's London Marathon – on Sunday, April 23 – to apply for a slot with the charity.

Babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions– from across the region – are supported by the hospice.

Provision includes respite and symptom-control care, and end-of-life and bereavement support.

Rowan Simpson, events fundraiser at Martin House, says: "Our brilliant team of runners in this year’s marathon raised over £26,000 for the hospice, money that goes to providing vital care to families.

"We offer our runners a full package of support to help them through their training and fundraising.

"The atmosphere at the London Marathon is electric. The crowd support is like no other and the route is stunning, taking you around the capital's iconic landmarks.

"Not only will you have one of the most amazing days of your life, but your support will help children and young people with life-limiting conditions – and their families – across North, East and West Yorkshire."
