PET-store giant Jollyes has seen a surge in sales of wood pellet cat litter – as people buy it for fuel to heat their homes.
The retailer – which has a store at Keighley Retail Park, in Hard Ings Road – has stepped up supplies to its outlets to help meet demand.
And the product is being made available through a one-hour 'click and collect' service at selected branches.
Phil Turner-Naylor, for Jollyes, says: "We started seeing a lot of chatter on social media in the last few weeks about using wood pellet cat litter as household fuel, due to the effects of the cost-of-living crisis – and that was followed by a sharp increase in demand at our stores.
"For pet owners who simply want to keep their homes clean, we are doing our best to make sure there’s enough for everyone. And where stocks of wood pellet litter are low, we can offer alternative types of cat litter."
Jollyes, which has more than 80 stores across the UK, advises anyone planning to burn wood pellet cat litter to check first that it is suitable for their log burner.
