NORTHERN – which runs services on the Airedale line – is banning e-scooters, hoverboards and e-skateboards from all its trains and stations.
The company says the ruling, which comes into effect on Thursday (Dec 1), is due to a potential fire risk from the lithium batteries in the devices.
Tricia Williams, for Northern, says: "The safety of our customers and staff is our number one priority.
"As these devices have become more and more popular, so have the horror stories of lithium batteries overheating and catching fire.
"From Thursday, our staff will refuse travel to anyone attempting to board one of our trains – or access one of our stations – with such a device."
