COMMUNITY-managed venues in South Craven could be given free expert advice on how to cut their running costs.
Up to 50 buildings in North Yorkshire – such as village halls, sports and leisure facilities and theatres – are to be included in a study.
Organisations running the chosen venues will be shown how to reduce the carbon footprint of their premises, boosting energy efficiency.
Residential care homes are also eligible.
The £75,000 funding for the project is being provided by the Government, through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
Councillor Greg White, North Yorkshire County Council’s executive member for climate change, says: "We all need to work to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to tackle climate change. Improving the carbon footprint of our buildings and making them fit for the future is a key aspect of that.
"Many community-managed buildings tend to be older and can be poorly insulated. This study will show organisations where there are opportunities to reduce greenhouse gases and save money."
Organisations wishing to be considered for the study need to register their interest by January 10 – call Fiona Protheroe on 01756 706230 or email FProtheroe@cravendc.gov.uk.
The study will be carried out between next month and March.
