AMATEUR historians from the Keighley area are being invited to enter a contest named in tribute to a journalist and broadcaster who died last year.
The Yorkshire Society Harry Gration History Prize will be awarded for a piece of original research about any aspect of the county's history, from the time of the Brigantes to the present.
Entrants are asked to produce a short essay based on their research.
There is a category for young people aged up to 18, and an open prize for over-18s.
Winners will receive a certificate and share of a cash prize, plus their work will be published on the Yorkshire Society website.
Mr Gration – a former history teacher – was a regular compere of the Keighley & Airedale Business Awards ceremony, and served as a UK brand ambassador for Steeton-based Acorn Stairlifts.
