CHRISTINE Grogan was guest speaker at a meeting of Keighley Men's Forum.
She recounted her early life on her father's sheep farm at Whernside, near the Ribblehead Viaduct, helping to look after the flock.
After leaving home she met her husband-to-be, Tony, with whom she shares a passion for hill walking.
In recent times the couple have devised a 90-mile walking route.
"It is over seven stages – beginning at Saltaire where they live and ending at Appleby," says David Seeley, for the forum.
"The route has been well received by the walking fraternity.
"Tony has spent a considerable time drawing a detailed map of the journey, together with information about many well-known attractions en route."
Thanks were given by forum president Dave W Smith.
