A TURKEY had bidders in a flap at an auction.
The oven-ready bird was sold no fewer than 17 times when it went under the hammer, as vendors bought and donated back the prize lot.
Eventually the turkey raised £1,500, and a cheque has now been presented to Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice Manorlands.
The bird was put up for sale by Roger Penny and Dave Gill, at Wharfedale Farmers Auction Mart.
Roger said: "I initially thought it might raise a few hundred pounds, but it was fantastic to hit the £1,500 mark for a great cause."
Andrew Wood, community fundraising manager at Manorlands, says: "We'd like to thank all the kind-hearted individuals who so generously played a part in reaching this tremendous total.
"The fundraising support of people in our community means we can continue to provide the expert and compassionate palliative care and bereavement support we're well known for."
