A PARKRUN stalwart clocked up a milestone at the Cliffe Castle event in Keighley yesterday (March 18).
Norma Peace completed her 100th parkrun – on her 84th birthday!
"I was pleased with the achievement but I wish I'd run it quicker!" says Norma, who got round the testing five-kilometre course in just over 42 minutes.
Norma has also served as a volunteer 50 times.
A Cliffe Castle parkrun spokesperson said: "Well done Norma! We are so proud of your achievement."
Parkruns take place over five-kilometre courses every Saturday at more than 2,000 locations across the world.
There are seven million registered members and the event is represented in over 20 countries.
In England, the runs start at 9am.
The events are free to enter and are organised entirely by volunteers.
Before taking part for the first time, entrants should register online – at parkrun.org.uk/register – to receive a barcode which they then take along to every event. The barcode is scanned at the finish and each participant later receives their time.
The events are open to people of all abilities, who can choose to walk or run the course.
