KEIGHLEY Horticultural Society is on a mission – to get the town growing!
The organisation is encouraging people across Keighley, and surrounding areas, to try producing their own vegetables and flowers.
And it is giving away free seeds and planting kits, and offering advice, to help get the public started.
Members will be at two venues on Saturday, April 15 – Sainsbury's, in Cavendish Street, between 10am and noon, and Morrisons, in Worth Way, from 12.30pm to 2pm.
"Why not come along and pick up your free planting kit?" said a spokesperson.
"Gardening has both physical and mental health benefits, and you don’t even need to have a garden! Many flowers and vegetables can be grown in containers right outside your front door."
Also, anyone who has a go at planting is invited to take along the fruits of their labours to Keighley Show, which is being held at Marley playing fields on Saturday, September 2.
"People are more than welcome to share their growing successes with us at the show," said the spokesperson. "Bring along a sample or even just a photo to the horticultural tent – we would be absolutely delighted to see how you have got on!"
