SILSDEN'S town mayor has distributed free plants to youngsters.
Councillor Mags Croft, a keen gardener, gave fruit and vegetable plants to Silsden Primary School pupils, to take home and grow.
She was joined by Friends of Silsden Park members.
"I gave away plants at the school gates last year as a 'thank you' to all the children who walked to and from school and it was so well received I decided to repeat it," says Councillor Croft.
"It's good to show the next generation how much fun it can be to grow your own food, and to get them interested in gardening at a young age.
"There was a variety of plants to choose from – strawberries, tomatoes, beans, sweetcorn, peppers and chillies – and as expected, the strawberries were first to go!
"The children were all really friendly and polite and listened to instructions on growing the plants on."
