ANGER has erupted over plans to increase charges at some Bradford Council-run car parks.
All three local authority-managed car parks in Haworth are affected.
At Gas Street, the cost of parking for up to an hour will double from 50p to £1, and for up to two hours from £1 to £2. The fee for over two hours will rise from £2 to £3.
Meanwhile at the Museum and Bronte Village car parks, motorists will have to pay £1 instead of 70p for up to an hour. The charge for up to two hours will increase from £1.40 to £2, and for up to three hours from £2.10 to £3.
Increases take effect from Friday, September 1.
Worth Valley councillor Rebecca Poulsen says: "This will impact on residents and visitors, and affect businesses, which need all the help they can get to encourage people to come to shop.
"The council is using Haworth as a cash cow and it's unacceptable."
A Bradford Council spokesperson says: "Parking charges play an essential role in the careful management of our town and city centres where demand for parking space is high. They encourage a healthy turnover of vehicles and shoppers to support businesses."
