PLANNED road safety improvements at an accident blackspot have been welcomed.
Residents had been calling for action after a number of incidents in the area around the junction of Barrows Lane and Redcar Lane, near Steeton.
Now Bradford Council is proposing to extend the stretch of road covered by a 20mph limit, and add a phased 30mph zone between it and where the national speed limit applies.
The move is welcomed by Craven-ward Green Party councillors Caroline Whitaker and Janet Russell, who met with highways officers to discuss potential measures.
"This action is something residents have wanted for a while," said Cllr Whitaker.
"The road goes from a national speed limit into a 20mph stretch very quickly, so extending this zone and adding the 30mph section in between will help reduce the chance of further incidents.
"This stretch of road has seen multiple accidents in recent years."
Cllr Russell said: "Some of the incidents have been very dangerous, and it's only through luck that there has not been a more serious injury.
"We have been working with highways officers to identify a solution and I am pleased and grateful that they have found funding to get this done for residents."
