A FUNDRAISING appeal has been launched to carry out desperately-needed repairs to a church roof.
Several thousand pounds are required for the work, at Riddlesden United Reformed Church.
The appeal got underway with a coffee morning at the church, in Bar Lane, today (October 21).
A flat roof at the entrance to the building needs attention after a series of issues.
"There have been problems with the roof for many years which are now leading to further issues with damp and occasional leaks," says a church spokesperson.
"Covid interrupted earlier plans for maintenance work, but the church is now in a better financial position and looking forward to a positive future.
"To this end, the time is right to make a full roof repair to the entrance so that the whole building becomes more inviting and attractive for both church and community use. However, we still need to raise several thousand pounds to complete the work."
Further coffee mornings are planned on Saturday, November 18, and Saturday, December 16, between 10am-noon.
And a Christmas concert, featuring Haworth Brass Band, takes place on Saturday, December 9, 2pm-4pm.
Church services are held every Sunday at 10.30am.
