A BUSINESS owned by a Cullingworth couple is in the running for a top accolade.

Bradford-based Pennine Cycles, run by Paul and Sandra Corcoran, is a finalist in the retail category of the Yorkshire & Humberside Family Business Awards – which this year attracted a record number of entries.

Winners will be announced in a ceremony at the Majestic Hotel, Harrogate, on Friday (November 10).

Mr Corcoran, managing director of Pennine Cycles, says: "We are thrilled to be a finalist. 'Team Pennine' continues to shine a light on the hard work and dedication that independent family businesses throughout Yorkshire put into offering excellent services to their customers – and continues to strive to be the best."

Awards co-founder and director Sue Howorth, of The Family Business Community, says: "With over double the entries from last year, we were burning the midnight oil to get through them as they came in right up to the wire. The judges had extremely difficult decisions to make, so the finalists should be extremely proud of themselves!"
