A KEIGHLEY man who has raised over £14,000 in memory of his brother has received a national award.
Chris Metcalfe won the Gaz Emmerson Fundraiser of the Year category in the Shining Star Awards, run by Sarcoma UK.
His brother, Rob, died from pleural synovial sarcoma last year.
Since then Chris, 36, has scaled Mount Kilimanjaro and completed the London Marathon, and shared Rob’s legacy at Sarcoma UK events.
He says: "The challenges are a token of appreciation for the wonderful people who make this charity and its work so special."
Chris received his award in a ceremony at 10 Downing Street.
Sarcomas are uncommon cancers that can affect any part of the body, including the muscle, bone, tendons, blood vessels and fatty tissues. There are around 100 different sub-types.
Sarcoma UK campaigns for better treatments, funds research and offers support to anyone affected.
