A STAR has appeared above Keighley.
The feature is on top of St Andrew's – or the Shared – Church, at Church Green, and will be illuminated throughout Advent and Christmas.
Bradford Council's festival lights team made the two-metre-high star, and funding was provided by Keighley Town Council.
Two Keighley firms, Timothy Taylor's and Gallagher Family Funeral Directors, helped finance the installation – which involved a three-strong team using ropes and winches to carry everything to the top of the tower.
The star was the brainchild of Keighley team rector, the Rev Canon Mike Cansdale.
He says: "I've been fascinated how often you catch a glimpse of the tower from different parts of the town, and I got to thinking how fabulous a star would look as part of our Christmas lights.
"The Bible tells of the star which led the way to Jesus. I hope that as people look up and see our star, they’ll be reminded of that special star."
Canon Cansdale thanks all those supported the project and helped the vision become reality.
He adds: "This will be a landmark on the Keighley skyline for years to come, but why not follow the star this Christmas and join us for our celebrations?
"This is your parish church and we’re looking forward to welcoming you."
