KEIGHLEY has a long association with panto, and next month marks the 70th anniversary of one such production.
Humpty Dumpty was staged at St John’s Church, Ingrow, from January 25-30, 1954. Guests included the town’s mayor and mayoress, Alderman James Procter and his wife.
Set in the land of Omelette, regulars Stanley Peckover, Joan Scott and Derek Lund played King Eggwhite, his daughter Princess Julia and the wicked witch Virago respectively. Geoffrey Rundle played district nurse Dolly Dazzler, while Keith Marsden appeared as the character’s son Bobby.
All photos and the programme are from the Keighley & District Local History Society archive on Flickr, and were donated by Patsy Marsden and Liz Hornby. Research by Tim Neal.
