PEOPLE across the Keighley district are being urged to give their views on the next year's proposed West Yorkshire Police budget.
A public survey has been launched ahead of the police precept being set for 2024-25.
People are being asked to comment on a planned increase which the force says would amount to between an extra 17p and 22p per week for most households, in council tax bands A to C.
Alison Lowe, West Yorkshire's deputy mayor for policing and crime, says the funding would help recruit more police community support officers and initial contact staff, who answer calls from the public.
But she warns that without additional cash, the force may have to cut costs across its operations.
She adds: "We want to create a safer, fairer region, and a properly-funded police service is crucial to that.
"I will continue to lobby the Government for sustainable funding for our police service.
"I’m keen to hear people's views on the budget to inform these important decisions."

Consultation closes on January 17.
A recommendation regarding the precept level will then go before the West Yorkshire police and crime panel in early February for its consideration.
