A CARE home group is celebrating a hugely successful past 12 months.
A string of accolades and initiatives during 2023 culminated with Spellman Care being named Family-Run Care Home Group of the Year in a coveted awards scheme.
The group received the honour in the Northern Enterprise Awards, organised by SME News.
And one of its homes – Craven Nursing Home, at Skipton – scooped the title of Best Permanent Nursing & Dementia Care Home in North Yorkshire.
SME News paid glowing tribute to all the winners.
A spokesperson said: "Ultimately, our Northern Enterprise Awards are an amalgamation of fine companies and people who individually and collectively elevate our experience of business in the north of the UK – and beyond!
"They influence the rest of the country with their dedication to excellence, devotion to client satisfaction and awe-inspiring stories of success."
In addition to Craven Nursing Home, Spellman Care runs Springbank at Silsden, Steeton Court and Ghyll Royd in Guiseley.
Group director, Steven Spellman, said he was delighted with the latest accolades and other achievements during 2023.
He added: "I’m immensely proud of the hard work and dedication shown by all our care and support teams during the past year. They have made it possible for us to continue providing luxury care to all our residents, upholding our values of kindness, dignity and compassion."
Last summer, Spellman Care – which has been operating locally for over 30 years – received recognition in the national Stars of Social Care Awards.
It was a finalist across four categories, and highly commended in the Outstanding Care Home Provider section.
Representatives from the group attended a presentation ceremony at the Marriott Hotel, Regent's Park, London.
And in October, four staff members reached the finals of the Women Achieving Greatness in Social Care Awards.
In other notable developments during the year, November saw the opening of a hair and beauty salon at Springbank.
It followed similar projects at Steeton Court and Ghyll Royd.
The Springbank salon includes two cutting stations, a backwash unit, nail bar and waiting area.
Residents are able to visit the salon for a weekly haircut and style, with additional visits for pampering and nail painting.
In 2023, Springbank was also able to stage its first summer fete since before the pandemic.
The event was on a country and western theme.
Highlights included a line dancing performance, and residents, guests and staff were invited to join in a finale.
Over £180 was raised for a Thursday Club at Silsden Methodist Church.
