TRAIN operator Northern is recruiting engineering apprentices.
The company, which runs services on the Airedale line, has 18 roles available across its maintenance depots – including at Leeds.
Successful applicants will undertake a four-year training programme.
Jack Commandeur, engineering director with Northern, says: "A regular intake of apprentices is important to help nurture the next generation of railway engineers and engineering leaders.
"Apprentices can develop their skills and experience in an environment that speaks to their passion for science and technology.
"We’re looking for people with a keen interest in mechanical, electrical and systems engineering and a strong desire to work hard to achieve success."
Oliver Doyle, a current apprentice, says: "My job involves servicing, repairing and maintaining Northern's train fleet, along with learning and working towards my qualifications.
"No two days are the same, and I love the variety of roles that I do. I learn something new every day."
Anyone aged 16 by September 1 this year can apply.
