A PLAY based on its writer's own teenage experiences of having parents in prison is being performed in Keighley.
Comedy drama KAILEY is at Keighley Creative from Tuesday, January 30, until Saturday, February 3, at 7.30pm.
As part of her research, writer Kerry Wright spoke to other people with experiences of family members in prison.
The play follows 18-year-old Kailey Spence as she navigates life alone whilst her mum, Shaz, is caught in the prison system.
"I'm so pleased to finally share KAILEY," says Kerry.
"There are currently 300,000 young people with parents in prison, so I hope the play helps raise awareness and encourage conversation around how we can better support them."
Funding has come from various sources, including Bradford Producing Hub and the Arts Council, and support has been provided by Kala Sangam Arts Centre.
Tickets are available, on a 'pay what you decide' basis, from kalasangam.org/box-office/kailey
