REGIONAL health chiefs are urging people to download a new app which makes it easier to access NHS services.
People can use the app to order repeat prescriptions, book appointments, view their GP record, and access NHS 111 online and other services.
For those with an existing app, settings will remain the same.
Dr Yvette Oade, regional medical director with NHS England, says: "The NHS app continues to be a simple and secure way to access a range of health services.
"The refreshed design makes it easier for patients to carry out activities independently, giving them greater control of their healthcare.
"Extensive research involving a wide group of people of different ages, backgrounds and IT confidence levels was carried out before making the changes.
"The app offers an easy way to access NHS 111 from your smartphone. Simply log in, scroll down to ‘Check your symptoms’, the app will check if you want to change any details – such as your location – and then follow the instructions.
"It’s helpful to ensure your app is up-to-date with your details to save you time when you feel unwell or are worried and want to access advice."
