A CAMPAIGN to save Sugden End household waste recycling centre is gaining momentum.
The Cross Roads facility is among three such sites in the Bradford district earmarked to shut.
More than 9,000 people have now signed a petition opposing the proposed closure, and that of the Golden Butts tip in Ilkley.
And the public is being urged to make its views known as part of Bradford Council's budget consultation, which runs until February 17.
The local authority needs to make £40 million in savings to help avoid bankruptcy.
Other proposals include a council tax rise, the sale of some public buildings, job losses and a review of leisure and library services.
Behind the tip petition is Keighley MP Robbie Moore, who says the planned closures would have "disastrous" consequences.
"Over 9,000 residents from across Keighley and Ilkley have now come out in opposition to these plans," he adds.
"The closures would have disastrous consequences in terms of fly-tipping in our community.
"We’re urging the council to U-turn on these plans with immediate effect."
