A LONG-awaited footbridge over a busy main road "remains very much a priority", say council chiefs.
The proposed structure, which would span the A629 between Steeton and Silsden, has been talked about for years.
Full funding for the scheme – which most recently was budgeted at around £9 million – was granted last year by the Government as part of the City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement programme, administered by West Yorkshire Combined Authority.
Craven-ward Green councillor Caroline Whitaker raised the issue at a meeting of Bradford Council, seeking reassurance on behalf of residents that the scheme was still going ahead as planned.
In response, she was told: "This project remains very much a priority for us."
The council added that policy changes meant the business case had to be revisited to "consider active travel access to and from any crossing", but it said the project remained on track for completion within a programme timescale of 2027.
