NORTHERN Powergrid has given its backing to National Apprenticeship Week.
And the company, which is responsible for the region's electricity network, has launched its own search for recruits.
Applications for its Power Engineer Apprenticeship Foundation Degree programme are invited now.
Then in April, the craft apprenticeship scheme will open to applicants.
In total, more than 70 would-be engineers will be hired this year.
Andy Bilclough, for Northern Powergrid, says: "Our recruitment drive to attract the next intake of highly-skilled engineers complements National Apprenticeship Week.
"We’re extremely proud to have an ‘outstanding’ Ofsted-rated apprenticeship training programme, which offers first-class development opportunities in electrical engineering, as well as a foundation degree qualification.
"Also, our popular craft apprenticeship scheme provides an earn-as-you-learn opportunity in roles such as overhead lines people and fitters."
