STUDENTS at a Keighley school have been given a taste of potential careers.
Several employers visited Beechcliffe School and provided tasks showcasing roles within their sectors.
Amongst those present were representatives of Balfour Beatty, MyDentist Keighley, Herncliffe Care Home in the town and Bradford Council, plus hairdressers from Keighley College.
The event was organised by the council’s Xperience team, part of SkillsHouse.
Team manager, Catherine Halliwell, says: "We took the workplace to the school, which enabled students to participate in hands-on tasks that an employee would usually do.
"It was a great way for the young people to gain an understanding of real-life job roles. We would like to say a huge 'thank you' to the organisations involved in making this happen."
Rob Slater, deputy headteacher at Beechcliffe School, welcomed the initiative.
He added: "It was an opportunity for our students to take part in a careers session with a difference, working with real employers to develop their employability skills ready for the workplace and adult life."
Councillor Imran Khan, Bradford Council’s portfolio holder for education, employment and skills, says: "It's great to see local and national businesses playing an active role in supporting our young people with career decisions."
