A SEED giveaway and a talk by a four-times national dahlia champion are being held in Keighley.
The events are being hosted by the town's horticultural society.
On Saturday, April 6, members will be at Sainsbury's supermarket between 10am-1pm and in Morrisons from 2pm-4pm distributing free flower and vegetable seeds, together with planting kits and advice.
A society spokesperson says: "We’re keen to help new gardeners and hope that they will come along to the horticultural tent at Keighley Show, on September 7, to share their successes!
"This year we’ve several new classes, and we are especially keen to see children having a go at growing.
"Our children’s section now includes classes for growing dahlias, chrysanthemums and cucurbit – which means cucumber, courgette, squash, pumpkin and melon! And there's a wonky veg class plus one for the biggest sunflower head, and giant sunflower seeds feature in our giveaway."
The talk – Growing and Showing Dahlias – takes place at The Knowle, Victoria Road, on Tuesday, April 9, 7.30pm for an 8pm start.
Speaker Ian Sutherland will include a demonstration of taking dahlia cuttings, and will answer questions.
Plants will be available to take home.
Admission and refreshments are by donation.
