A STALWART of amateur theatre was guest speaker at the Keighley Men's Forum luncheon.
Barbara Boothroyd spoke on A Principal Girl (and Boy) at the event, at the Grouse Inn, Oldfield.
After giving a brief account of her education and employment as a teacher, Barbara outlined her interest in theatre and particularly pantomimes.
She first appeared on stage aged four in the Cliffe Castle grounds, and made her debut with Keighley Amateurs as an 11-year-old.
David Seeley, for the forum, says: "Barbara appeared mainly as principal girl in pantos but her private wish was to play a principal boy, which she eventually achieved!
"She showed us a number of sparkling, self-made 'boy' outfits which were much admired."
Thanks were given by forum president Rod Fall.
