CHILDREN are being urged to "grow for the show".
Keighley Horticultural Society is including a number of new classes, for youngsters aged up to 15, at its annual show.
And it is encouraging children to start planting now in readiness for the event, at Marley playing fields on Saturday, September 7.
Alongside decorating veg and flower arranging, classes will include a vase of chrysanthemums, vase of dahlias, biggest sunflower head, a 'cucurbit' – cucumber, courgette, squash, pumpkin or melon – any other vegetable, and wonky veg.
A society spokesperson says: "Come on kids, grow for the show! Now is the time to start growing in order to make sure plants are ready for the show."
The society event is held as part of Keighley Show.
