CHILDREN at Oxenhope Primary School have raised more than £4,000 to revamp their nature area.
Pupils were sponsored to walk, cycle, swim or run a mile each day last month.
The initiative was organised by the school Friends.
Proceeds will help enhance the nature area, Blackwell Woods, with planned improvements ranging from new trees, hedges and plants, to a pond and wooden canopy.
Headteacher, Mrs Alice Jones, says: "I have been absolutely blown away by the hard work of the Friends of Oxenhope team and families.
"This work will mean that the children and community can spend more time in the outdoors, which we know offers positive benefits to learning, mental health and wellbeing.
"We want to be a beacon of light for the community – offering experiences such as outdoor yoga, gardening opportunities and chances to be involved in sustainable schemes. This is the start of some exciting projects."
