KEIGHLEY’S Soroptimist club next month celebrates its 90th anniversary.
Over the years, members have supported a wide range of projects and organisations across the area – including a contact centre for separated parents and children, Airedale Hospital’s stroke unit, Women’s Aid, Guide Dogs, talking newspapers and the Mothers of Eastwood.
A spokesperson says: “Soroptimists give service – on a voluntary basis – to improve the lives of women and girls locally, nationally and internationally.”
Ruth Healey – federation president of Soroptimist International Great Britain and Ireland – is in Keighley on Saturday (April 27) as part of a week-long visit to Yorkshire, during which she is learning more about club projects and programme work.
