AN annual search has been launched for Keighley's unsung heroes.
People are being urged to nominate those they feel go 'above and beyond' to help others or improve their neighbourhoods.
The Keighley Community Awards will be presented across nine categories.
Accolades include Neighbour of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Teacher of the Year, Inspiring Young Person of the Year, Emergency Services Hero of the Year and Climate Change Champion of the Year.
Two categories are named in memory of former town councillors. The Gary Pedley Community Award recognises someone who is making a significant contribution to their community through their time, actions, talents and dedication. And the Barry Thorne Sporting Hero Award pays tribute to somebody for their contribution to local sport over several years.
A Lifetime Achievement honour is also awarded, for distinguished service to the community over a significant period of time.
All those shortlisted will be invited to an awards evening at Victoria Hall in Keighley on Saturday, September 14.
The awards programme is organised by Keighley Town Council.
Nominees must live in – or be relevant to, such as through their work, school or group – the town council area.
With the exception of the Lifetime Achievement Award, nominations should relate to a person or group's work within the past three years.
Self-nominations aren't accepted.
Previous winners and runners-up can't be considered for the same award within two years.
Town mayor, Councillor John Kirby, praises everyone who "goes that extra mile" for their community.
And he urges people to take the opportunity to nominate those they feel deserve recognition.
He says: "We'd like to say 'thank you' to the people of Keighley who go that extra mile for our community.
"The Keighley Community Awards aim to recognise and celebrate the work of people, groups and organisations whose dedication and commitment have improved the lives and wellbeing of residents.
"If people know someone who they feel should receive special recognition, please start nominating."
For more details and to submit a nomination, visit smartsurvey.co.uk/s/CommunityAwardsNomination2024, or download a form at keighley.gov.uk
Forms can also be collected from Keighley Civic Centre.
The closing date for nominations is July 31.
Last year's awards scheme proved a huge success.
At the presentation ceremony, Cllr Kirby paid tribute to all the nominees.
He said: "Keighley often gets overlooked, but these nominees prove that it is a wonderful town full of inspirational people."
