ACCLAIMED movie A Thousand and One is the latest offering from Keighley Film Club.
It follows the story of single parent Inez, played by Teyana Taylor, who kidnaps her son from the foster care system.
Alan Watkinson, for the film club, says: "Have you ever felt a sense of injustice about the quality of life that society offered you and would you not bend or change the rules in your favour if you could? This is the situation facing Inez, who believes that her son Terry has been neglected and mistreated by the US family foster care system while she herself was incarcerated in Rikers Island Prison.
"She kidnaps him and takes him to Harlem.
"Inez is a fiercely independent woman who uses her resourcefulness to achieve a sense of identity, home and stability.
"Review website Rotten Tomatoes rates the film at 85 per cent."
A Thousand and One, which has a 15 certificate and running time of one hour 57 minutes, won the Grand Jury Prize at last year's Sundance Film Festival.
The Keighley Film Club screening is at the Picture House, in North Street, on Sunday, May 19. Doors open at 5.30pm and the film starts at 6pm.
