HARDEN Children's Gala takes place next Saturday (June 15).

The event – now in its 51st year – begins with a procession, which will set off from the top of Long Lane at 1.30pm.

Led by the New Orleans Jazz Band, it will include children in fancy dress, vintage vehicles and members of Wilsden Dance School.

Other groups are invited to participate.

Roads will be closed for around 20 minutes whilst the parade makes its way through the village.

The event will be officially opened at 2pm by the gala king and queen and their attendants.

Attractions at the memorial field will include an inflatable assault course, bouncy slide and inflatable castle, water splash, coconut shy, games, rides in fire engine Diddy Dennis, a tombola and raffle, plus entertainment from the band, dancers and a magician.

There will also be the popular tea tent.

And children's races will be held, from 3.10pm.

Organisers would like to hear from anyone willing to help on the day.

A spokesperson said: "We rely on our amazing volunteers to set up and dismantle the gala, but always need extra hands."
