RAIL minister Huw Merriman made tracks for Keighley to view major refurbishment work currently underway on the town's railway station.
The £9 million scheme includes upgrades to the main building, bridge repairs and strengthening, and the installation of replica Georgian glazing.
Keighley Conservative parliamentary candidate Robbie Moore said he had been pushing hard for the project to go ahead during his time as MP, and welcomed work getting underway.
He added: "It was fantastic to welcome the rail minister to Keighley to discuss the upgrades at the railway station – just one of the many projects I helped secure for our town after years of lobbying, numerous meetings with Network Rail and Northern and repeated calls for those involved in the project to be held accountable on its timely delivery."
John Grogan, Labour parliamentary candidate for Keighley, says: "First impressions count, and it will be great later this year to have a refurbished railway station as a gateway to the town.
"I recall bringing together interested parties back in 2018 to help work out a plan. It has been a true collaborative effort over nearly half a dozen years and all involved can take pride in their work."
